Days 4 and 5 of 100: Rest days

I know I should treat my 100 days of code as a marathon; I have to keep it slow and steady, and maintain the rhythm so as to not fall off track. But first 3 days of my course were actually heavy for me; I was supposed to get back to my retail job on the weekends, but I felt I needed to rest. I needed rest.

I decided to spend my weekend just chilling around. I spent my Saturday on the beach, sitting by the seaside till the moon rose late into the night. The sea invigorates your mind, and I needed to enjoy the breeze and the endless crash of waves in order to reset my focus.

Sunday was a little different. I went for an impromptu friend with my good friend. But the only mistake was that we hiked our way deep into the forest come dusk. It didn’t cross our minds that we’d hike into the darkness after dusk, so after our prayers we found ourselves in a conundrum — to move onwards or backwards?

We’d set our hearts to move onwards, but before that a couple came to us asking for the nearest exit since it was totally dark to hike. We showed the way and then said our goodbyes. A few steps into our next trek, I didn’t feel good because, well, I just didn’t feel good to be hiking in the dark. Besides, it was my first time doing it. I didn’t want to risk it.

We still had to hike in the dark anyway. So I told my friend, it’s best we go back to the start. So we made our way back to the start of the forest trail with our smartphone lights as our guides. Without it, I guess, we’d have stayed overnight in the middle of the forest. Not an ideal thing to do.

We managed to get out safe, thankfully, and after that we spent the night filling our tummies and conversing about life.

That’s days 4 and 5 of 100. No code, no programming. Well, the occasional thoughts about it though, but other than that, it’s mostly just rest.

I’ll update the upcoming days ahead.
